"Christmas in RBH"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / Cardiology

In late December 2016, feeling very ill and suffering from breathlessness and arrhythmia, I was referred to A&E by my GP.

I was seen very quickly by the triage nurse and referred to a doctor.

Although the Department was very busy, after waiting a little while, a bed was found for me in C1 ward.

The ward was clean, calm and the staff very welcoming, caring and efficient.

I was soon settled and examined again by a doctor who, under the supervision of a consultant, began a routine of medication to relieve my symptoms.

My week`s stay in C1 encompassed Christmas Day and as I was beginning to feel much better, I really enjoyed the visit to the ward by the Salvation Army Band who generously gave their time and musical talents to cheer us!

The Chaplain`s visit was most welcome and three of us in the bay, shared Communion. My veggie lunch was beautifully prepared and served by jolly staff who seemed to be enjoying the day as much as we were. We all received a Christmas gift from the ward and throughout this time, BP`s were checked, medication administered and our needs met generally...wow this was amazing!

Visitors were welcomed and found us very happy after the festivities. Patients and visitors alike were profoundly grateful to all the staff for creating a Christmas Day which was very Blessed. We are so fortunate to have the Royal Bolton and I only wish that those who seem to enjoy criticising the services, could be more grateful for all the benefits that are provided in times of need.

Thank you to you all.

Dear Diana, Whilst most people would rather not be in hospital for Christmas, we were so pleased to hear that you were well looked after when you were an inpatient. It is lovely of you to have posted this and we will make sure the staff are told of your kind comments. We hope you are making a good recovery.
