I have the condition ankylosing spondylitis. Following a bout of pain lasting several months I visited my GP. I requested an X-Ray to see how far the degeneration of my spine had altered over the past 20 to 25 years. I was to have an appointment with a specialist to discuss my condition with hopefully an operation to assist with my pain.
When I was diagnosed with this condition I paid to see a specialist and at that time was advised not to have the operation due to risk factors.
The appointment with the specialist was cancelled by the West Park Hospital. A new appointment was made to see a physiotherapist. At this I voiced my concerns but agreed reluctantly to see the physiotherapist. My first visit went without incident and a follow up appointment was made fro 11.30 today. I attended 10 minutes prior to my appointed time. I visited the reception and before I could leave a name I was dismissed to the waiting area. Here I waited for over 30 minutes. In that time no patients were seen by the person who dismissed me to the waiting area. I went past the office and this person I saw was chatting to other staff members after 25 minutes past my appointment I left.
It is my understanding that the NHS was run for the benefit of the patients. My experience would suggest otherwise.
