"Long wait in pain for treatment at Bristol Royal"

After being treated by my GP for piles, I went to the walk in centre to be told I had an abscess and was to go to ward 14 in the BRI. I walked over and arrived at 09.30 and was put in the smallest waiting room ever. I waited until 12.00 to be seen by the nurse to do the initial blood tests etc. I then saw the junior doctor at 1pm who confirmed that it was an abcess. All the time, sitting was causing major pain for me so the doctor prescribed some pain relief. I was unable to eat or drink anything.

At 3.50, after 3 requests, they turned up and gave me a shot of oral morphine. At 4.20 she came back and gave me 2 antibiotics and 2 tramadol. By 5pm I was feeling woozy and disorientated. I mentioned this to the nurse but was told to stay where I was as the senior doctor was coming. I was still unable to eat or drink anything.

I saw the doctor at 5.10pm who diagnosed an anal fissure rather than an abscess and told me to wait for a prescription which took another hour for them to write out.

I received my appointment with the specialist 8 weeks after my initial visit, he changed some of my medication and told me to go back in 8 weeks which I did, last week. He told me that I would need some botox treatment and to make an appointment for 2 months. I got my appointment through yesterday for the end of November - almost 5 months. I'm in pain all the time and they want me to wait that long, I've been waiting since February.

The whole experience is appalling. I really want to be put under a different consultant at a different hospital. I don't expect to be treated any different or have priority but to wait that long is simply not an option.
