"The best thing was the staff on ward B5"

About: Rotherham Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was referred to Rotherham District General Hospital by my GP for a suspected hernia. There was a bed already provided as my GP already phoned straight through to the ward.

When I arrived I was escorted by a nurse to the ward B5, then was made comfortable. I had the usual blood pressure, my blood taken. i was only waiting three quarters of an hour.

Then the NHS doctor came to the ward to check me plus confirm the hernia, of which I had to be operated on the next day. All went well with the operation. After the operation I was made comfortable, was able to eat as well which was a good thing.

The best thing was the staff were rushed off their feet but were available when needed, pleasant and polite. Plus the people that were sharing my bay were friendly which helps. The worst bit was seeing the staff overworked.
