"Wound care."

I have just returned from using this particular area today. I have had problems with a sebaceous cyst which became infected shortly before Xmas. Had two visits to Royal and two visits to my doctor. Hadn't healed so referred me here. A nurse came and called my name. They then walked ahead of me and had reached the room before I had even got to corridor. They showed me in. Didn't give their name. Didn't ask me to sit down. Asked me why I had come but didn't listen to explanation fully. I just felt I was being rushed. I said I had details and pics of wound and dates on iPad as couldn't remember them. The nurse said exact dates not needed. They asked when I had had surgery. I hadn't but they hadn't listened to me before, so hence the question. The nurse told me to sit on bed, I had wound on back of leg so couldn't. They didn't explain procedure to me at all before starting. It involved putting a tiny pack in, pretty painful. Didn't acknowledge my pain until my second lot of ouches! No bedside manner at all. As a nurse, retired, I knew what was happening to me but would still have liked some reassurance and information. None was forthcoming. The nurse did give me some about keeping dressing dry after, and made me further appointments. Very disappointed with their manner, but am not doubting their skills. Just on this occasion, after 3 weeks of considerable pain, plus a fall two days ago, which they didn't acknowledge when I told them, this was not what I had thought it would be like. I had to go for a blood test and that nurse was totally different. Very friendly and professional. I have never complained before about any treatment as I know how busy places can be. I'm extremely grateful for this centre. I've used the minor injuries before on a few occasions. Also the physiotherapy. No problems at all . I'm sorry I felt the need to say something on this occasion.
