"Brilliant Care at Out Of Hours Service at Westbourne Centre"

About: City Health Care Partnership CIC / GP service (out-of-hours)

(as other),

I was very worried about my son who has been diagnosed with glandular fever. I couldnt get his temperature to come down and he developed a red rash ALL over his body. He was very scared and I became uneasy.

I had attended an emergency appt at my GP's with him in the morning where Dr Shaikh was very reassuring but we became anxious again through the day as my son was very sleepy and the rest of my family felt he should be in hospital.

I phoned the out of hours GP who wasn't very understanding really at first, but said the East Hull centre was closing where he was, but we could attend the Westbourne centre.

What a brilliant and reassuring experience that was. We had a bit of a wait but that didn't matter to us as long as we would be seen at some point. I understand that at any walk in or emergency service you will have a wait and my husband stayed at home with my other children. We would have waited all night if necessary.

The reception staff were very nice and friendly and let us sit in the cool corridor especially as my son was embarrassed with his rash as well.

When we saw the Doctor, Doctor Pinto I think his name was, he was so understanding. How lucky we were he was on duty. He was kind, reassuring and spoke kindly to my son asking how he felt and gave him reasons why he was feeling like he did and showed him his condition with pictures on the internet. My son is 15 and sensible and quite able to speak for himself and this Doctor respected that.

He gave him some cream and analgesia. We were only in there about 6 minutes but it wasn't rushed and we came out completely reassured. Because of this service we stopped panicking and although my son is still itchy, rashy and very unwell with a temperature he feels completely at ease with what is happening. This kindness from ths Doctor has meant my husband went to work happier, my children did and I was able to work from home with a settled mind.

A brilliant Doctor whom I cannot thank enough and a brilliant idea to have this service with such lovely kind staff.

Thank you very much for your feedback. It is really nice to hear the positive experience you had in what was clearly very worrying circumstances for you and your family.

We will pass your thanks directly onto the staff concerned and hope that your son is now much better.

Thanks again
