About: Southend Hospital / Gynaecology

Went to a and e last year with severe pains down below, had to see gyno doctor and had a scan, I was with my partner at this time, and I was 19 years of age, happy with the doctors they was amazing, however, I had a phone call my house phone asking me how my appointment was and can I carry out a questionnaire, now my mother answered that call, and I had to explain to her the situation which is something I did not want to do, i did not give my consent to you accessing my records and phoning my landline, it is a breach of patient confidentiality!!! I know about this as I am a dental nurse. so I sent and email to complain and never got a response, so, I would like to tell you that if something is not done about this, I will take it higher, it is total lack of patient care and confidentiality!! absolutely disgusting

Dear Madam,

I am sorry to learn of your Complaint regarding your telephone call - this would have been the Friends and Family test national survey automated call that is sent to patients on discharge, this is anonymous and does not mention any patient name due to confidentiality and does give you the opportunity to opt out.

Again, I am truly sorry and have sent your comment to our Complaints department to ascertain if they have received your comment you say you emailed in.

Please email our pals team pals@southend.nhs.uk with your phone number and we will opt you out of receiving any further call about your experience.
