"Some concerns about my care at North Staffs"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Plastic surgery

(as the patient),

I was on Ward 107 at University Hospital of North Staffordshire after having a skin graft. The clinical treatment was alright, but I did have some concerns.

As I could not get out of bed unaided because of a leg injury, getting a commode was difficult. Waiting time for nurses was 5-10 minutes. My hair was washed only once in four weeks.

My biggest complaint was the food. Mainly dinner and tea was inedible, and that's putting it politely. My family - along with all other patients - bought food in. We had fish and chips, pizza, along with sandwiches.

Food is ordered two days in advance and some patients couldn't remember what they had ordered. Elderly sick were given packs of sandwiches in plastic which they couldn't eat because the bread was thick.

I have complained to the hospital. I wonder if some of the patients go home with malnutrition.
