I visited bpas in January 2017 after a failed medical abortion with another place. I was extremely frightened and had bad anxiety. I was spoken to by various people who soon told me what to expect and that put me at ease.. I arrived at 10:40am for my appointment, was took straight into a room and given two painkillers and two other tablets under my tongue to soften my cervix. I had to wait an hour for the cervix to soften, bang on the hour I was called through to change into a gown. At this point I was shaking with fear, two nurses came to calm me and took me into theatre. The surgeon was so nice to me, I asked not to see anything and they promised me I wouldn't. I sat on the end of the bed, was calmed by four nurses as the surgeon put the sedation drugs in my arm. I can remember them telling me to lie back, all four nurses were talking to me constantly. I felt the speculum go in and nothing else! I was awake throughout the whole thing but not really aware even though I can remember bits I felt like I just couldn't be bothered to move or talk!! Then I was tapped on the leg and asked to sit up! Within minutes I was walking out into recovery and offered tea and biscuits! I was discharged by 12:55! I can't thank bpas enough for what they did for me that day. It was totally different to what I read on the internet. So if you are reading this, I promise it's not as bad as you think. Good luck....A x
