"Everyone fulfilled their role with a smile"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital Walk-in Centre

(as the patient),

I went to Poland for a wedding and received some insect bites that caused an infection. I went to A&E and received two lots of penicillin and antihistamines.

The followind day I started to feel worst including flu like synptoms and diahorea. I went to the GP walk in centre and the doctor said my illness was teaching boiling point and I would start to feel better , I could hardly walk at this point.

After a bad night I got to see my GP and they sent to the dermatology department at the Hallamshire Hospital, who referred me to the infectious disease department.I was kept in hospital for a few days and discoverd I also had a water infection.

All the nurses and doctors wre very caring and explained what was happening, everyone filled their roles with a smile. This was my first experience of staying in hospital since giving birth to two sons, and it was a pleasant one. Even when having needles stuck in me they were kind and considerate.

The hospital ward itself is now a little dated and in need of modernisation eg toilets and washing facilities. It was generally clean but I could see some smear marks on some walls.

I went to the toilet in which four people shared and there were some faeces and blood on the floor which took a hour and a half before it was cleaned.

overall my experience was good
