Had to take my daughter to children A&E at 2am, was seen straight away by the assessment nurse and only waited a further 10mins to be seen by a doctor. The department was empty and the whole team where very tentative, reassuring and efficient. By 7am all test had been done and the decision to operate was made. Again this process was fast, efficient, nures, play specialist and consultants where all lovely and couldn't do engough for her to make her comfortable. After the operation she was transferred to ward 19, staff all lovely, there were a few complication with my daughters conditions over the next few days, but nurses where always on hand for advise and support and doctors attended to her quickly when they were needed.
All in all despite the circumstances it was a positive experience and all the staff work so hard, this is how the NHS should be, and if people only go to A&E when absolutely necessary, it can continue to be like this.
