"Lack of communication during ultrasound"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

I had an ultrasound today on my neck and it was obviously a teaching session as the practitioner had an instructor with her explaining how to get a better image. However, neither mentioned this to me when I went in, and during the course of the examination (15 minutes), they both spoke over me as if I wasn't there.

At one point the equipment was held on my neck for several minutes while they were discussing a particular function on the screen. When I left the instructor had taken her seat at the desk and didn't acknowledge me whatsoever.

I was asked to clean the gel from my neck by the practitioner, and had to ask what to do with the tissue. I didn't feel a lot could be gained by giving them feedback at the time, as there was no rapport. I just felt there was a general lack of respect for me as a patient.
