From the outpatient department to the inpatient ward I received fantastic care.
I attended the outpatient department due to multiple episodes of reduced fetal movement. I was always treated with compassion and respect. I had to be induced and despite the poor midwife being rushed off her feet, the care myself and the other 5 ladies received was safe and effective.
Despite the others moaning about having to wait about etc. There was nothing the midwife wouldn't go out of her way to do, yet again despite being rushed off her feet. After a couple of short hours I had to go to labour ward.
The midwife came to collect me, she was amazing as I was anxious about becoming a mum and the fact I was about to actually give birth. I had my waters broken and immediately had back to back very strong contactions.
The midwife "Cara" was 110% my advocate, she ensured I had the choice to what analgesia I had and also made my partner feel involved and not left hanging about like a spare part.
The anesthetist was brilliant, she came to my aid twice and made me feel at ease. I unfortunately had to have an assisted delivery and immediately got anxious and upset. Cara yet again was amazing, ensured I was kept calm and informed about everything that was about to happen. She is a credit to the team.
My partner was also supported through the birth as he had to witness the traumatic delivery. I would like to thank every single person Involved in the safe delivery of my baby boy.
In had to stay in hospital for 3 nights after giving birth. I was unwell after the delivery and my partner had to stay with me to help look after the baby.
Unfortunately the first night he had to sleep on the chair, being 6ft 5 this was a challenge but we were grateful he was able to stay with us. The auxiliary nurse came in the next morning and saw how uncomfortable he looked so she went and found a fold down bed for him.
The baby was very unsettled this morning and she offered her help, she fed him, winded him and settled him in the crib, meaning we could get some well needed sleep. We were very grateful! Everyone in the ward made us feel welcome and helped us with the baby when needed.
The maternity hospital does not receive the credit and recognition for all the hard work and the amazing service they provide. After all the bad publicity in recent news events I wanted to tell my story and ensure the medical professionals received a big thank you for everything you do for the public.
