I gave birth to my first child in Jan 15. I was almost 2 weeks overdue so needed to be induced. This was a terrible experience. Until I was moved from the induction room to the delivery room I was attended to by a senior staff member. My request for pain relief was ignored on several occasions. I had to plead for pethadine which I didn't want as I wasn't allowed gas and air. I was told it was too soon. I was relieved when I pressed the call button and a new more caring midwife appeared. They gave me gas straight away and they examined me. I was 9cm dilated and frightened to death. Luckily they had a completely different attitude and the rest of the birth was better. In contrast I gave birth to my 2nd baby in July 16. Spontaneous labour on the birthing suite. I gave birth in the birthing pool with two very caring midwifes and managed with gas and air.
"2nd experience better than the first"
