"Appalling treatment of an 84 year old dementia..."

About: Salford Royal / Older people's healthcare

My mother was admitted to eau suffering from dehydration and urinary tract infection such that she had low bp and pulse and was virtually non responsive at home..She was then moved to Ladywell ward 7 but the staff lost her glasses and false teeth in the move-still not found-so that she could not see her way to the toilet or eat solid food. She was then eventually moved to a care home without notifying her carers my 86 year old father and disabled brother. The staff also managed to lose the bag of clothes that were to travel with her so that she had to sit in the care home in her dressing gown until my father could get to her. This was degrading disgraceful and shocking and I would not recommend this hospital to anyone!!

Dear Stuart

Thank you for taking the time to share with us your mother's recent experience. I can only imagine how frustrating and difficult this must have been for her, please accept our apologies, I would like to assure you that this is not normal practice.

Please can I encourage you to contact our PALS service on 0161 206 2003 or email them directly on pals@srft.nhs.uk - they will be able to explain how we can best investigate the issues you have raised and to give you some answers.

Thank you.
