"Endoscopy"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

I went into Oldham Hospital in September 2016 for an endoscopy, I knew what to expect since I had one before. Every member of staff I came into contact with was friendly, professional and caring. I chose to have a sedative but unfortunately the staff had difficulty inserting it and had to make 4 attempts. The staff couldn't have been more apologetic or sympathetic, it wasn't pleasant but they helped me to cope with the ordeal. I felt quite anxious but each member of staff I came into contact with was extremely caring and reassuring. Just before the procedure started the staff in the small theatre were so friendly, pleasant and professional. The doctor carrying out the procedure was friendly and very reassuring, I felt confident and calm. Afterwards I was cared for wonderfully well, the results were explained in detail, my questions were answered patiently and fully. I cannot find any fault whatsoever with the treatment I received. Very shortly I have to return to the same hospital for a colonoscopy, due to my two previous experiences in this department I don't feel too anxious at all. A huge thank you to the staff on this department.
