"Drop of area full of parked cars"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery

(as a relative),

My father had an appointment at Crosshouse. We parked in the disabled bays. I ran out to grab a wheelchair for him, but trying to get to the entrance was a nightmare. Eventually we managed to get to the appointment but coming out some thoughtful person had parked their car over the pavement in the pick up and drop off area. We could not get the chair through at all. I had to go and collect the car while my father struggled to the road. I am appalled at this.

The next day we had another appointment at the same clinic. Once again the pick up and drop off area was covered in cars all parked with noone about. My question is why is this allowed to go on? Why do you not have security guards to move people on? I am visiting from overseas and am just disgusted at this and will be forever worried about my father and his future visits to this hospital.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Thatcher,

I am really sorry you and your father experienced this. Attending appointments can be stressful enough without adding this additional pressure. We know there is a problem in this area and we are taking action. The whole drop-off area is going to be redeveloped and the work is starting soon.

In the meantime we do only have one security personnel on duty at a time and he although he does patrol this area he also has other security duties to undertake, making it impossible for him to keep this area clear at al times.

Thank you so much for raising this with us, I hope that this post will also help to prompt reflection on the impact of this behaviour, possibly promoting better practice around the front door area. (Yes, I know, I am an optimist).

Kind regards,

Eunice
