"Long wait to be discharged"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Medicine (wards 8, 10, 11, 14, 18 & 27)

(as the patient),

Hello. This is the story of the royal alexandria hospital in Glasgow, been ok with most of the stuff that they had to do but when it came to getting discharged and getting my medication that was a different case, it has taken more than 4 hours to get me some antibiotics so I can go home, I was told it would be only a little wile but after more than 4 hours I was still waiting. I could have had it made in less time. All we got from the staff was it will be a little while. I am sure it doesn't take 4 hours to walk from the pharmacy to the ward to give me my medicine.

Dear KP

Can I start by apologising for my delay in responding to your comments. You have highlighted an issue that we have been aware of. It might be of interest to you that we have now introduced a pharmacy dispensary into the discharge lounge which now allows patients awaiting discharge to go from the ward to the lounge and pick up their prescription there. Early indications are that this has significantly reduced the time patients are required to wait from their medication.

I hope that you have now fully recovered from your episode in hospital

Best wishes
