"Surgical abortion"

About: Marie Stopes International Manchester Centre

I was so so so so scared of what was going to happen during a surgical abortion but I'd heard bad stories from a friend and online about the medical abortion, so I chose the surgical with sedation so I would be asleep during. Basically, the only thing I can fault is the waiting time, i was waiting 4 hours, but I understand they're busy, the nurses are all so lovely, I was crying from the minute I saw the first nurse when they did the scan and they was all very kind and reassuring, when I went in for the procedure the nurse introduced me to the doctor and surgeon which was nice, they was all very nice I started crying as I was lay down and had to put my legs up, although they keep ur dignity with a sheet it's still not nice, the nurse next to me was wonderful! Holding my hand telling me I'll be okay and asking about me to take my mind of it as I was near enough hysterical with how scared I was!! Last thing I remember is telling the nurse where I was from then I woke up and thought I was being woke up to go to work!! The nurses took me into the recovery room where a few other girls where and they gave us tea and biscuits to help recovery, I was a bit dosy for a bit, the nurses in the recovery room were absolutely brilliant! So kind, had a laugh with us and put us all at ease and gave us heat pads and pain killers, my experience was one I don't intend to go through again but I would definitely recommend the Manchester clinic if this is a choice you have made, the nurses are 10/10 for making me feel at home and comfortable and the surgeon is very very good and kind, took all of 5 minutes and I would recommend the surgical as it was no pain at all apart from mild period like pains after for a few hours, I have period pains worse. Just like to say thanks again to the nurses and if you're deciding on what treatment to get, good luck and you will be fine x

I am sorry this was not responded to at the time of your visit but unfortunately, we did not have access to this site at that time. Even though this happened last year it is never too late to say thank you for your lovely comments. This must have been very reassuring for others to read who have been in your situation. We do appreciate and thank you for taking the time to post your feedback and best wishes from MSI
