About: Salford Royal / Neurosurgery

i visited the hospital for an brain mri on the 24th december, i was very satisfied with the staff at the mri unit, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful as was the techs whilst performing the scan, i am disabled with limited mobility and they were extremely caring and also as i am claustrophobic they were supportive during the scan. my problems began after when waiting for the scan results, i was told by my gp to phone the consultants sec, as i have been having pain and worrying symptons i waited to january 3rd but it was an answerphone message telling me that they would not be available till january 19th not to leave a message and to ring a number if it was an emergency, which obviously my results would not be classed. i decided that i would wait for my appt with the neurosurgeon on the 9th january, but recieved a phone call today Friday two days before the appt, telling me that it was cancelled as the consultant would be away for two months, they would re arrange but it would be after the 19th, i didnt get a chance to ask about my mri results, so rang back ten minutes later as i am concerned at having to wait with no definate appt date, but it was an answerphone, i left three messages from 12 till about 4 asking if someone could ring me back and give me some advice, with no response, which seems strange that suddenly the whole department couldnt answer the phone after ringing me minutes earlier. i am left feeling very frustrated.

Dear onie

Thank you very much for leaving your comments about our services. We take all feedback we receive extremely seriously. I am sorry to hear about the difficulties with your appointment. You have described this very well, and we will make sure the team is aware of your concerns.

It would really help us if you could let us know more about your whole experience. The best way to do that is to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), on 0161 206 2003 or email them directly on pals@srft.nhs.uk.

Thank you.
