"Maybe review the systems"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / Accident and emergency

Have now visited a and e twice in two years once for myself today and once with my partner. Both experiences were similar. The staff are perfectly polite and with the stressed they must be under i think they do a great job. But both occasions the wait time is horrific. I was told it's a knock in due to bed availability . But there are seemingly member of the team not really speaking to patients so maybe an idea would be to just keep people that have been waiting for hours informed of what is happening . The environment isn't great as until the cleaners came the place was filthy and toilets not fit for purpose. The public indirectly fund the hospital so maybe just consider the service elements as well as the actual health care. Then to have to pay to park for 6 hours and pay for hot drinks is maybe considering the dept a step too far. This is for senior management not the team. If this was private sector it wouldn't be acceptable .

Thank you for this feedback. The A&E service is experiencing unprecidented levels of demand at present, with over 800 people attending in a 24 hour period recently. Clearly this, together with the demand for beds, inpacts on waiting times; we apologise for any inconvenience caused. We would agree that it is important to keep patients waiting informed and are sorry this was not your experience.
