"The staff were very nice, clean, ..."

About: Southampton General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The staff were very nice, clean, food was good, monitored me very closely, was admitted into Emergency Dept very fast, and thankyou to ward F7, controlled pain very well.

What could be improved

Communication between nurses/doctors etc, i was told i needed an Enema and a camera in my rectum which was very distressing, only to be told an hour later the nurse got the wrong patient and it wasn't me, so i didn't have to have it. Asked for a bedpan about 20 times over course of an hour in emergency ward, nurse kept saying she would bring it, but in end i ended up urinating in the emergency bed. I was put on nil-by-mouth at midnight, said i would go to theatre in morning, i wasn't put on an IV drip of any kind, was left all day long with no fluids at all, only to be told at 5pm it was cancelled until after the following weekend, so i went 17 hours with no fluids.
