"The cardiac team of doctors, and EP's have always treated me with respect and professionalism."

About: Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust Leeds General Infirmary / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I recently had my second Cardiac Ablation at LGI. Over the past 7 months I have also had an angiogram & angioplasty in the Heart Center at LGI, and have been an inpatient 6 times, spending time on most of the heart Wards in the hospital. Wards L18/L19/L14 in particular. I have always found the staff on the wards go out of their way to reassure and care for you.

The cardiac team of doctors, and EP's have always treated me with respect and professionalism. I have trust in them to do their best for me.

The cardiac ablations carried out while awake make me quite anxious for many reasons, but the one thing I have never been anxious about is the procedure or treatment the EP and his team are carrying out, I know they are doing their absolute best for me, to fix the problem, or give me the best possible outcome. My latest ablation may not have the outcome we'd hoped, but I go forward knowing the best that could be done, is being done.

Mr Hogarth and his team in Cath Lab no. 6 really went above and beyond. All the nursing and and radiography staff in the lab helped, they reassured, and comforted me during the procedure and I know there were times it was difficult for them, and me. Their true professionalism, skills and genuine caring nature shone through and you should be proud to have them as members of your staff. I had some sedation, so cannot remember all their names, but remember their faces and the hands that held mine at difficult moments and soothed a brow to comfort me. Thank you, you made a real difference.

This followed up by the care of staff on Ward L14, where I stayed overnight after the procedure made a difficult time less stressful and easier to deal with. Staff Nurse Bernard and his team looked after me very well, and my thanks to him and Rosie, Lisa, Sandra and Damien for their care and help during my stay with you.

I truly appreciate that LGI has this wonderful unit only a few miles from home, the admissions and admin staff are always helpful and on the end of the phone for any help and advice and know that without The Heart Center the past year may have had a different outcome for me. Even the system of being referred to Community Cardiac Team for follow up help and support once home has helped tremendously. The support of Michelle my Community Cardiac Nurse has, and continues to help with my recovery and I know she will help me with whatever comes next.

So thank you to all your staff in the Heart Unit.

Dear Nannading

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us.

Your post is wonderful to read and I am extremely pleased that you had such a positive experience whilst in our care.

I am delighted to read such lovely and positive feedback. I have taken the liberty of passing on your kind words on to the Head of Nursing for Cardiology and the matron for Ward L14 who I know will be exceedingly pleased to know that they are delivering a level of care that met your needs and fulfilled all your expectations.

With kind regards

Rosie
