"A and E visit"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

I think the only thing I could comment that is a respectable service was the care and professionalism of the paramedic team . Upon arriving at Russel hall it went downhill in every aspect ! The appalling lack of communication of staff and waiting times being the worst aspects . After arriving at 3.30 sitting in a and e until 8.30 then moved up onto a surgical assessment ward until gone 10 pm and still no answer as to the medical problems or the plan of care for my partner . This hospital is an absolute disagraceto the NHS

Thank you, Adam, for taking the time to post feedback about your partner’s experience of our A&E and Surgical Assessment Unit. We are very sorry you were so dissatisfied with your experience of our hospital and for the time you waited.

We are currently facing unprecedented levels of pressure across our services, with significant increases in the numbers of ambulances, emergency patients and unplanned admissions. Unfortunately, this has meant that some patients have waited longer than we would like during busy periods.

We always do everything we can to make sure patients are seen and treated quickly and appropriately and so must apologise that this was not your partner’s experience.

Making sure our patients feel informed and involved about all aspects of their care and treatment is very important to us, and so it is disappointing to hear that your partner was not kept up to date about a diagnosis and care plan.

We would encourage your partner to get in touch with us to allow us to help with any outstanding concerns or questions. To do this call our main switchboard on 01384 456111, and ask them to bleep our Surgical Bed Managers, who will be happy to discuss your partner’s care.

We have shared your feedback with the staff responsible for both A&E and SAU.
