"Needing to chase for antenatal care"

About: St Thomas' Hospital / Antenatal clinic

(as the patient),

I quite agree with two of the other reviews, I was referred by my GP for antenatal care at 6 weeks gestation, heard nothing for 2-3 weeks so started calling/emailing, using the numbers provided on the St. Thomas' website.

No voicemail facility, mailbox full - this went on for 10 days or so. I finally got through at around 11 weeks, and was very quickly offered a booking appointment with a midwife in the community. As well as the 12 week scan (pretty good).

It felt like these appointments only happened because I chased things and was persistent. The midwife appointment was disappointing, and I'm not sure I feel in safe hands, as they are clearly to capacity.

Dear T1, thank you for taking the time to provide this valuable feedback. I will alert senior managers in the midwifery team so that they can look into the telephony issue you describe.

If you would like to contact me in the Complaints team on 020 7188 3733 and give me your details I can also ask one of the midwifery team to make contact with you and discuss your concerns about what happened at your midwife appointment and what made it disappointing. It is important to us that you have a good experience during your antenatal care.
