"Paramedics & Bolton A&E disappointment"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

Over the last several months I have had the misfortune of having to attend Bolton A&E with a close family friend and subsequently, my daughter in a separate incident.

On both occasions I felt several of the A&E staff were abrupt, dismissive and downright rude.

Recently when attending with my daughter following a duty doctors advice I was patronised by the two female paramedics attending. There was a definite atmosphere which i felt i did nothing to deserve. The triage nurse was equally as rude. It is not so much about what was said but the way in which it was said.

A far cry from the marvellous staff at Wythenshawe hospital where all the staff from the cleaners to the consultants were polite and informative throughout.

I now fear it will be worked out who I am now and I dread any further contact with Bolton A&E.

Thank you for your posting. I am sorry that you felt that several staff at the Accident and Emergency were abrupt and rude with you on your recent visit to the department.

Let me reassure you that the department takes complaints like this seriously and I will discuss the content of your mail with the nursing team.

If you do need to attend the Accident and Emergency department again and you have further issues, please do not hesitate to contact me Sue Franklin Departmental Manager or the Department Matron Susan Beswick.
