My Doctor rang at 4.30 p.m. to say ‘get yourself to A&E at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, it looks like you have had a heart attack’.
In the Medical Assessment Unit overnight all the staff were pleasant, thoughtful, cheerful and efficient and even the late night egg sandwich was delicious. On Thursday morning 22nd December I was sent with a chirpy couple in a St John’s Ambulance to Frimley Hospital. All blues and twos going, a terrific journey if a bit terrifying! It took only 12 minutes to get there.
By 1.45 I was having a heart operation, conducted by RSCH Consultant Cardiologist who worked on me tirelessly for two and a half hours, giving me various complex stents. From ringing our Surgery to completing a difficult heart operation it took less than a total of 33 hours. I don’t think you would get a better Medical Service than that in any part of the world. A good Christmas present for me!
