"Physio treatment"

About: Peterlee Community Hospital

After a referral from my doctor in September 2016 I attended Peterlee Community Hospital for treatment and was dealt with on all of my visits by a physio.I had around seven visits one week apart where I was treated with acupuncture for a knee injury. I was told to do various exercises at home including hamstring stretches, squats, eccentric knee lifts and hamstring sets amongst others. The last time I attended the physio asked what I thought the problem was as "they were at a loss" !! The physio told me to go home continue icing it and just do hamstring sets and made me an appointment for 2 weeks later. No scans or x rays were offered presumably as the physio was treating it as a soft tissue injury. In turn I went back to my doctor and insisted on a MRI scan on my knee which I got on the 13th of December 2016. I later received a call a week or so later from my doctor stating I had a fracture injury to the femoral lateral condyle in laymens terms my thigh bone was fractured where it meets the knee joint which will require surgery. What untold damage I have done by the treatment instructed to me by this physio as I have now been informed by another NHS physio not to carry out any exercises on the injury. I have been referred to a consultant by my GP however due to the Christmas period I do not have a date. Not only have I been carrying this injury over 3 months without diagnosis,I am now really struggling to walk and I may be on crutches for 3 months or more when I get the surgery. I have been left frustrated and disappointed.
