"6 week mindfulness course"

About: Community mental health services / Recovery College

(as a service user),

I attended an introduction to mindfulness 6 week course at the recovery college in merton - I found it very helpful - my main complaint is it could have been longer - plus points include that it provided a hint of hope - providing me with some useful tools to start working towards lessening the likelihood of recurrence of depression - or at least the tools to help cope with whatever lies ahead - just wanted to say the two people instructing my group were very good at listening to everyone and making sure everyone felt listened to and were not misunderstanding the mindfulness introduction - which cannot be easy, as it was a very varied group of people, with varying needs I would say - my first two sessions I was unsure about, as I felt slightly uncomfortable, but soon discovered that what I was being introduced to was both relatively simple and rather complicated! the tone of the sessions was caring and upbeat, with an awareness that the patients would have ups and downs. many thanks to the team involved.

Dear nicktrash,

My name is Claire Reid and I am the Senior Patient Experience Co-ordinator for the Trust. thank you for posting your feedback about mindfulness course run by the Recovery College.

We understand how bewildering mental health and its systems can be when you are new to it all, and want to support carers and service users particularly at that time.

I'm glad that you have found the trainers helpful, and I am glad that everyone was able to be listened to, without the focus of the course being lost. I am pleased to hear that the course was upbeat and caring and that our staff were being mindful themselves of the client group attending the sessions.

We do value any suggestions and comments, so thank you for taking the time to let us know what this has meant to you and I will pass along the comment about the course being made longer, so the Team Manager can see if this would be able to happen in the future.

I wish you well in your recovery journey

Best Wishes

Claire
