"Our concerns should have been taken into consideration"

About: Newham General Hospital / Accident and emergency Newham General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

i am a pregnant mum of four i was concerned of my slight bleeding and discharge, where as i am pregnant of 6 weeks at my early stages. i then went to my GP to see if they can advise me, i had no problems of this in the past. My gp advised to go and see Newham A&E.

I called my husband at work to take me to A&E, myself and my husband went to A&E at 10:30 reported the issue to the which its call the Navigator, they have refers to see the reception, the reception took my details and what was wrong with me and gave me a document to put into a box. waited in this room for good 1 and half hours there was other people in front of us. One of the nurses comes and calls a name who i could not understand neither could my husband, we can also see another lady trying to gesture hands to try to say we could not understand who she called, the nurse was not in any interest of the people walking away to see outside of the building. My husband repeated to the nurse 4 times can you repeat the name please but she ignored us and walked away, my husband got so annoyed and told me i got answered straight away at a third world hospital and i am in a modern Newham hospital, and this Borough is the host of the Olympics. My husband and i got very disappointed.

We was finally seen by the nurse, the nurse guided me to take blood test which we had to wait for another 1hour. after giving blood, we was told to go to Elm ward for a scan, when we got to Elm ward the receptionist suggested the morning patients have not been seen you are booked for a 13:30 appointment. We then walked away and came back for the 13:30 appointment we then was called by 15:15. I had my four children at school which i had to arrange with a friend to pick them up and look after them. My thought was that i would be seen by midwife or any nurses or a female, person. i was seen by male and also was scanned by the male. My husband i was not happy that to see quite a lot of male people working at this section scanning the private parts of the other sex. We was hopeless to say anything else. We could not change any thing as this was important to us and the time consuming whiles we have children waiting for us after school.

Every people have there own emotional or Religious, embarrassing concerns which this should be taken in consideration at the maternity wards. Its not nice when there are no communications between the patient and the doctors or nurses at the hospital. We should of been asked you are going to be see by a male surgeon or a doctor. We could of waited when a female person was available. We left the hospital by 15:45.
