It's been nearly 6 months since I was referred for counselling by my GP and I still have not had any help whatsoever. Actually, quite the contrary.

I've been put on waiting list after waiting list, being signed up for group sessions which get cancelled without even being notified and all the while I'm the one having to chase them up and trying to figure out what exactly is going on or if they forgot about me. Every time I call they invent an alternative option which means I'm put on a whole different waiting list. I think they just make you wait for so long till you forget about it and move on or give up, but I'm clearly not getting any better and this kind of treatment could drive a normal person insane, let alone someone already dealing with enough of their own negative thoughts and problems! I completely understand that there is a high demand for this service but then hire more staff to deal with the demand! Mental health is not a joke, and making people wait for 2 weeks or 6 months even could be the difference between life and death for some people!

Your feedback is concerning. Would you be able to contact our PALS/Complaint department as your experience is hard to fathom and wholly unsatisfactory. Posts on NHS Choices are anonymised so we have no way of looking into what has happened that has resulted in you being managed in this way.
