I was admitted to Aberdeen maternity hospital when I was almost 38 weeks pregnant as I was showing signs of pre eclampsia and theu decided to induce me. A few hours after the start of induction I felt I couldn't remember when I last felt my baby move and they found his heart rate was low and kept dipping. I was then taken to labour ward where I had my waters broken and there was a lot of really thick muconium. It was the decided that due to the thickness of the muconium and the fact that my babies heart rate kept dropping, that I needed an emergency c section. I then needed to have a general anaesthetic as my platelets were too low for an epidural. I was taken through to labour ward at 17. 50 to have my waters broken and my little boy arrived at 19. 27. It all happened very quickly and I later found out that how concerned the staff were. My little boy was absolutely fine even being covered in thick green slim apparently - non of it went into his lungs thankfully! I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to all of those involved in looking after me and my baby! Every single person was so. I've to me throughout my whole time in the hospital, despite being so busy nothing was every a bother to them. I was so impressed how quickly they acted when it all went a bit wrong and how calm everyone was!
