"Corridor accesss"

About: Churchill Hospital / Medical oncology

When advised to walk as much as possible I was hindered by staff leaving large trolling, bins, machines etc. against the only hand rail running along the corridor. I had major abdominal surgery but had to risk navigating obstructions and leaving the safety of the hand rail to make progress. The staff should be trained not to do this as the opposite wall without the rail is where equipment should be left or ideally use store room provided.

Thank you for your comments regarding your experience in the Oncology Department at the Churchill Hospital. I am very sorry to learn that it was difficult for you to move around the corridors following your abdominal surgery. Please be assured that your feedback will be passed onto the Service Managers responsible for both Oncology and the Portering Service.

We would welcome the opportunity to investigate the issues you have raised and provide you with a response. If you would like us to do this, please do not hesitate to contact the Complaints Department on 01865 221728 or at complaints@ouh.nhs.uk who will be happy to discuss the complaint process with you.
