"I understand budget cust but not this, Not Cruelty"

About: Alexandra Hospital / Accident and emergency

My sister has uncontrolled epilepsy, she use to have seizures daily but has been put on a a medical diet called " Ketogenic Diet " unfortunately on 01/12/2016 she had many, extremely severe seizures, the ambulance called they came and immediately called red back up, from this point she was given oxygen and intravenous diazepam in the hopes it would stop the seizure, it did not, then she was rushed away to Redditch NOTE ambulance crew were and have been always amazing. Finally get to Redditch, she is in Resus.

I leave her as I’m just in the way, come back, she’s crying, the nurses yet again who will not be named stated " Oh what’s she done this time " I’m sorry but what? Again and again these nurses who will not be named, have had it for my sister time after time, epilepsy is not a choice. They also wrongly accuse, and this will legally be taken up, have stated and put down on her records that she is and I quote " She is non Compliant with taking her medication" A) that’s A lie B) she has a high drug tolerance due to the epilepsy.

Here is another scenario that regularly happens at Redditch, again she will come in from having a seizure due to the fact she keeps vomiting as when you keep vomiting you cannot take your Anti Epileptic medication. , go to resus, comes out and gets an AnE bed, all she needs now is some Cyclizine done via intravenous, with this, shell stop vomiting, she can take her medication and we can leave. Straight forward yea? Wrong. Here is what actually happens; She is refused Cyclozine because for some reason the staff at Redditch think she’s addicted to Cyclizine, an anti sickness medication that has never once stated that it can be addictive, but hey that heroin addict down the room from us, he can have his methadone, but my sister cannot have some anti sickness. 4 hours later due to negligence, mass fitting and them again not putting up the side panels’ on the bed so she falls of and is never watched over, she keeps fitting and keeps fitting because she has been refused to be treated. Hours later, we have had enough.

We take her to Worcester hospital, upon arrive they immediately come to our aid with, care and compassion. They immediately give Cyclizine intervenes, 30 minutes later the vomiting has stopped, she takes her medication. No more seizures. Job done.

Overall, disgusted at some of the staff at Redditch not all, a select few who for some reason cashed in on their care and compassion for Cruelty and Hate towards this individual. Disgusting. PS as stated a select few, Times are tough I understand but it does not mean someone can be treated this way constantly it’s inhumane.

Chris, thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your experiences of our care. I am pleased to hear that the care your sister has experienced at Worcestershire Royal Hospital has been good but disappointed to hear your concerns regarding her care and the attitude of some of our staff at the Alexandra Hospital. I will pass your comments on to the department manager to look into and share your concerns with staff. It would however be helpful to have some further information from you so that we can investigate your concerns more fully. If you would be happy for us to do this please can you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0300 123 1732 or email us at wah-tr.pet@nhs.net

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention, your comments will be taken seriously.

Kind Regards

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust
