Last night I had a fall and dislocated my toe. I attended RUH emergency department and was very pleased with both the care and attitude of all the staff in the minor injuries and x ray department. Unfortunately, my toe could not be repositioned despite their valiant attempts and I was asked to wait at home for a call from the orthopaedic team this morning between 8am & 9am. I fully realise that a dislocated toe is of minor importance but I am still waiting for any contact from them six and a half hours later. I have rung the emergency department to make sure I have not been forgotten so can only assume that RUH feels it is acceptable to expect patients to wait for over six and a half hours with no contact, even if it was just say they are too busy to see me today. So, I have now become somewhat disappointed with the RUH and would prefer to attend somewhere else as I am losing confidence in their ability to deliver any ' joined up' care if they cannot make a simple phone call.
