"Poor treatment at Red Clinic"

About: Poole General Hospital / Accident and emergency

After calling NHS Directabout our 2 year old and being advised by an out of hours GP we attended Red Clinic on Sunday Afternoon. As with most children our son had perked up a bit however he was still very poorly. When we saw the doctor it was clear they thought we were wasting their time. The doctor hardly looked at our son and spent most of the time explaining to us how to breathe! Had they listened to our son breathing they would've heard his crackling & had they looked at him properly they would've also seen that he was pulling in when he was breathing, no oxygen levels were checked either. As a result of this our son got a lot worse & ended up being admitted to hospital on Tuesday with a bad chest infection & needig to be on oxygen for 3 days. Not a good service at all

I am very sorry to hear that your son was unwell over the weekend.

I hope that he is now doing well.

Although the Out of Hours service uses Red Clinic to see patients, the service is not run by Poole Hospital.

We just host the clinics.

The service is operated by South Western Ambulance NHS Trust.

If you wish to pass your feedback to them, you can ring their Patient Experience Team on 01392 261585.

I hope your son will be better very soon and able to enjoy the run up to Christmas.

Best wishes,

Patient Experience Team, Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
