I went to gate 20 at southmead hospital for day surgery today. I had only gone to my GP and seen as an outpatient yesterday and came in for my surgery today. I arrived at 7:30, i was expected - i was seen by the anaesthetist, surgeon and nurses by half past 9 and on my way to theatre. I had expressed concern about nausea and vomiting after anaesthetic which had been my previous experience - this was heard and the anaesthetist had a plan which worked brilliantly. I was awake by 11 and ready for some painkillers and a cup of tea both of which arrived promptly and did the trick. Everybody was happy to answer my questions (which were many as i am very nosy and keen to know what is going on) There was a short delay waiting for a doctor to find some information for me - they were ultimately unsuccessful but apologised and explained why and during the wait i was bribed with cups of tea which i was happy to accept. I have not been to hospital for many years and i was not looking forward to it (who does?) but i was pleasantly surprised by the excellent treatment i received. Unfortunately i shall have to be back in 6 weeks or so thank you to all the staff - will expect the same again.
"Fast efficient and friendly service"
