"A/E"

About: North Middlesex Hospital / Accident and emergency

Staff members were very rude and reluctant to help in the A&e department. I felt as if I was brushed aside and appropriate actions were not taken in regards to my injury. After telling the staff I may be suffering from a concussion and waited 4hours, the dr told me to come back if the pain was still there instead of dealing with the situation before it got worst. I could have gone to the gp and they could have told me that. Was a waste of my time, I now refuse to be admitted to north midd a&e even if the worst was to happen. I have never been to an NHS provider and made to feel so small. I understand it was busy but staff should still be treating patients with more manners especially that I was not rude to them. I had to leave my prescription and walk out as no one came to help. I am appalled.

Dear Anonymous,

So sorry that you felt your treatment fell below the standard you expected.

Patients can experience long delays in A&E and this can be due to emergency ambulances arriving with critically ill patients who require immediate A&E treatment.

Each patient being treated in A&E are assessed for urgency of treatment and as you mentioned the A&E doctor who assessed you decided that you were okay to go home with instructions on what to do.

We always advise patients to go to their GPs first who will assess whether you require emergency treatment and they would then have arranged for a referral to our A&E department.

So sorry that you have decided that you will not use our A&E services again, we do care for all our patients who are important to us.
