"Very good care provided"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

Spent a week in ward 410 with my dad who sadly passed away. The care he received was brilliant and the nurses were very friendly, always offering hot drinks and their support during a tough time. Treated him as though he was awake and spoke to him as if he could talk back. Only negative is that once he had passed away and we were with him in his private room grieving, we could hear the nurses at their station speaking about what their favourite tv shows were and their dinner choices. It was insensitive under the circumstances. Apart from that, I cannot fault the ward/hospital during our time there.

Please accept our sincere condolences to you and your family on the very sad loss of your father.

I am very pleased to hear that your father was treated with kindness and compassion from all staff involved in his care.

This must have been very comforting for you all.

Please accept our sincere apologises on any distress you may have suffered due to the nurse’s insensitivity and the relevant manager for the department will be notified.
