"At my appointment the doctor was a DNA (did not attend)"

About: Heartlands Hospital

(as the patient),

I had an appointment with a doctor in early June 2010 at 9-40am. We were informed by a receptionist at about 9-35am that unfortunately the doctor was on annual leave and they had just found out. She said there was a doctor on duty and that they were trying to contact another doctor to replace my doctor, and that there was going to be a considerable wait.

I asked the receptionist if she had any idea of the delay, but she didn't know. I then asked a nurse if she knew where I was on the list. After doing some investigation I found out I was 14 or 15th.

As I had lost time from work, wasted my time, fuel and parking fees I was quite annoyed at this situation.

I feel sure that someome on the medical staff knew that this doctor was going to be on annual leave and should have acted accordingly.
