"The speed I was initial dealt ..."

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The speed I was initial dealt with but this then went horribly wrong!!! - see below

What could be improved

I arrived for my appointment 20 mins early at Oral & Maxillo Facial Unit on 13/05/2010 and was sent for an x-ray immediately (great start). Then I waited around 70/80 minutes until I was then handed back my booking card and sent back to original unit. When I got back I had to book in again to then be told by a nurse that the x-ray machine had over heated and that they would not be able to take my appointment any further..... She then explained that I would need to make another appointment - I politely explained that it was unexceptable and that I should not be put out again. She agreed and at recpition she asked the guy what to do next and he advisised that I would need to ring the booking line. Again I refused and advised that I should not be put out. He then attempted to book the appointment for me using the telephone service and you'd never guess what......he couldn't get through. Both the nurse and receptionist said they would re-book and contact me - This was 2 weeks ago and again guess what.... I haven't heard a dickie bird. What do I need to do next? Waste more of my time, money etc to sort. Oh I was also advised that if I was unhappy I could go to the complaints/service room at the entrance.... When I walked to the room it was the most unappealling place to sit outside or attempt to complain... I was also out of time so I didn't approach.

Anything else?

By the way I also was stood next to an elderly lady on a bed in x-ray whom began to short and get extremely upset with exrything going on. I don't blame her as she was airing her frustations and looking extremely confused. (she thought she was still at home!). She was left on her bed for at least 30 mins with no contact but plenty of hospital staff walking past without checking she was ok. I felt extremely sorry for this lady and how distrubing the whole thing was for her.............. I just hope that if I get to her age I don't need to visit the hospital....

Too be honest you couldn't make this stuff up.... What an absolute mess!!!

So long story short... Afternoon wasted, time off work, money paid for fuel and car park and still I am in the same position as I was before I arrived.
