"I could not fault any of the staff"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Walk in centre

(as the patient),

I am in my 80s and on the morning, about one AM, I had this pain and wheezy chest. As it was Saturday my surgery was closed for emergencies so I clicked on one as suggested by the surgery to get to 111. After half an hour my son arrived and dialed 111 manually and it worked this was about nine AM and was told I would hear from a doctor within 6 hours by 9-30 a doctor phoned and had booked me into the walk in service at East Surrey. My other son drove me in and I was seen by two doctors and went in to have a thorough check up, X ray, a blood test and a heart test. This took about four hours and I could not fault any of the staff and the degree of service my son and I were very impressed. Well done.

Dear alpine,

From what you say it sounds like you were directed to the out of hours GP service that we host but do not manage here at East Surrey hospital. The tests you mention will probably have been done in the emergency department that we do run.

It's good to hear that you were pleased with both services and that they worked well together. I will pass your appreciation on to our team in the emergency department.
