"Excellent Skilled work"

About: St James's University Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

After being told by urology consultant that my kidney tumor was in a difficult place to operate on ( near an artery and my ureter tube) and any such action would more than likely lose me my one remaining kidney and be on dialysis( and addded I would probably only last 2 yrs on dialysis- was obviously trying to cheer me up! ! ! ! ) I decided with the help of my excellent cancer nurse Judith to look for alternatives. I found out that Dr Wa in st james in leeds was trying alternative means of zapping tumors and persuaded my consultant to refer me.

When I met Dr Wa I was impressed by the clarity and honesty with which she explained what she could do with the experimental Nano Knife treatment and the risks. I agreed to go for it if I was suitable. I felt that her colleagues worked very much as a team all supporting the patients

I had the Nano Knife treatment and was very well looked after on the bexley wing cancer ward afterwards. I was discharged a week later and by then felt my normal self and after a few days carried on with my life as normal (lots of theatre and concert visits and cycling). my one poor old kidney also returned to its pre op state.

I am grateful to all of those involved in my treatment as I feel it has given me a second chance of life ( although I am 71 I still write classical music and do computer music research and cycle a lot! )

the treatment seems to have worked. Dr Wa showed me immediately the results of a 3 week after mri scan of my kidney. the tumor was burned to a cinder by the high frequency radio waves without damaging my ureter tube or any other part of my internals --excellent skilled work. Amazing
