"Day Care Unit at the Hallamshire should be praised for their dedication "

About: Northern General Hospital / Accident and emergency Royal Hallamshire Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was initially seen in A&E Northern General Hospital. Although the staff were nice, they were too busy. The place seemed chaotic. I work in the hospital and acutely unwell at the time, I didn’t get a good impression. In my opinion, communication and team organisation were lacking.

I was transferred to K1 at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Staff there on the whole seemed to be organised. The night staff were particularly good even though they were doing frequent night time observations I didn’t mind because of their kind manner. Although the ward was not recently modernised, it was clean and tidy. I was on this ward for investigations only.

My best experience was Hallamshire theatre admission unit (TAU) and Day care centre. The staff there put me at ease before I had my laproscopic cholecystectomy surgery. Everyone was kind and helpful. The staff gave me good advice on what to do when I went home. This Day Care Unit should be praised for their dedication and team work.
