"After care - orthopaedics"

About: Leicester General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

My mum had an operation and spent time in ward 14, superb treatment and staff. Upon leaving she was given a card and told if you have problems/issues or worries then please ring this number and someone will be on hand to help. She rang this number after a very worrying incident that really scared her. She was put on hold three times, each time the receptionist asked what are you ringing for? Mum explained yet again only to be told we don't have anyone medical here so ring your GP. Totally unacceptable and rude, please train your staff to be compassionate or employ kinder people in the beginning.

You caused a lot of upset by this behaviour and I am really angry about it.

Dear reviewer, thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

We are pleased that overall you are happy with the treatment and care given to your mother however we are sorry that the follow-up service did reach the same high standards.

Your review will be circulated to the Orthopaedics Management Team for review.

If however you do wish to formally advise Orthopaedics please contact our Patient Liaison Team (PILS) by email: pils@uhl-tr.nhs.uk or Freephone 08081 788337 with your mother's name, address and hospital number and they will investigate the matter for you.

We hope however that your mum's recuperation is going well?

Best wishes, Communications Team, Leicester's Hospitals.
