"Eye department referral times"

About: Frimley Park Hospital / Ophthalmology

I was referred to the emergency eye clinic by my optician following a scan and they faxed details through to FPH.

I was told to go home and wait for a call.

No call by late pm so contacted the eye clinic and went the following day.

The eye doctor said that I needed to see a consultant and it would be about 2 weeks.

I rang the eye clinic (extremely difficult to get somebody to answer the phone) and was told that I was being referred.

I have since spoken to the secretary twice, who was helpful, and thought it had gone through as a routine referral which I understand could be months, so today I have had to arrange to see the consultant privately as very poor and distorted vision.

Why was I told around 2 weeks and not seen in that timescale!

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on waiting times to see the consultant.

I'm sorry for your experience.

I've shared your review with the manager and lead consultant for the eye clinic however in order for us to investigate what's happened please can you provide your details to our Patient Advice and Liaison Team (PALs) on palsfrimleypark@fhft.nhs.uk

Kind regards

Claire Marshall
