I was admitted to A and E with onset of Afib in mid September. I was cardioverted finally via shock treatment after the staff had worked diligently to try and re-instate my heart rhythm via drugs. The staff were all brilliant both in re-sus and on the ward. The area which is badly failing is unfortunately administration. I was discharged at 8.30 am, but had to wait 10 hours for a packet of drugs to be brought up to the ward. I was also summoned for an ecg and echo test, and told that I would have to see a cardiologist within 3 weeks, before my drugs ran out. Its now 10 weeks, i've heard nothing, my drugs ran out 7 weeks ago, and on calling the hospital, I seemingly don't exist. All a little worrying. I became so worried that I paid to see a cardiologist privately, as the not knowing was really upsetting me. All in all, great medical staff, but very, very poor administration.
