"My son was admitted to A&E ..."

About: Campus for Ageing and Vitality

(as a relative),

What I liked

My son was admitted to A&E after sustaining a severe traumatic brain injury - I was 4 hours away and the staff kept me well informed throughtout my tortuous journey to Newcastle as they worked to stablise his condition. He spent 4 weeks in ICU and a further week in HDU, the treatment he received was outstanding, communication from the staff was excellent and level of care second to none. It was a shame that he had to be transferred closer to home!

What could be improved

The relatives waiting area for ICU - maybe a tea/coffee maker and better tv!! Many a grim hour is spent there!

Anything else?

Thankyou to all the great staff!

Thank you vey much for these comments, we do very much appreciate these and will ensure they are shared with all the staff who will be delighted to receive such positive feedback. We appreciate that this will have been a very traumatic time for you and wish your son all the very best for his recovery. We will certainly look at the relatives room provision and take these comments on board as we develop the new facilities at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, which is where these facilities will soon be based. Thank you very much for taking the time to send us this feedback .
