Receptionist told me I had a GP problem and shouldn't be in a&e. They also said they would report me to LCHS for having a Skegness address but a Lincoln GP; what they failed to note was that Skegness hospital changed my address when I attended the out of hours while stopping with my parents in the area.
The initial assessment nurses were fabulous but unfortunately I only had the pleasure of their company for 5 minutes.
I was pointed in the direction of x-ray and managed to get in and out immediately, though I then had to wait twice for someone to answer the corridor door buzzer to let me back through to a&e, where I then had to sit and wait for a further hour and a half.
Once I finally got to see a dr, they asked me what was wrong (no mention of my X-ray) and continued to insist that my illness could be dealt with by using home remedies and did not need hospital treatment. I persisted and repeatedly mentioned I had been struggling for 5 weeks with illness and had already seen my GP several times who had advised me to visit a&e if I got any worse. I was eventually put on a saline nebuliser, to no effect, and despite telling two nurses I felt no better and my breathing had actually worsened, I was sent home.
Next time I struggle with breathing I'll make sure to call an ambulance and waste NHS resources rather than using my own fuel and time, and perhaps then I may receive adequate treatment and see some professionals who I feel know what they are doing, preventing me having to take up yet more valuable NHS time by having to book a follow up appointment with my GP to get the same problem resolved.
