I had a total knee replacement performed by specialist aided by the anaesthetics team.
I had a spinal tap and a general and I didn't feel a thing. I went in at 15.30 and was back in my room fully alert at 18.00 This was my first big operation. I need not have worried. The recovery room care was brilliant and my room was spacious and functional. The nursing staff are amazing. They were kind, had a good sense of humour and nothing was too much trouble. The whole team is there to make sure this is a no pain experience. There were times at night where I had a pain break through and a nurse was there in minutes (sometimes seconds) of pressing the call button. The food and housekeeping teams share the same professionalism.
On a couple of occasions the team made a sandwich for my wife and brought some tea for my daughter. If you're ill and need hospital treatment this is brilliant hospital choice to make
"You are in very, very good hands"
